And you have to navigate to it for the location to be saved - so do a quick navigate to and then cancel. I'm not 100% sure this will work in all locations. For some reason it will stay a bit more zoomed in (and still track the car), in the “north up” setting. If you have it in the “heading up” setting, it stays zoomed out.
